3 sentenced to death for spying for Al-Qaeda

CAIRO: Three were sentenced to death Sunday over charges of spying for al-Qaeda group, with a fourth sentenced to 10 years in prison, Youm7 reported.

The four allegedly formed a group from 2008 to 2013 that “assisted a terrorist orgaization outside Egypt,” and “conspired with Al-Qaeda leaders to carry out terrorist attacks against military personnel in Sinai, as well as against U.S. and French embassies and staff in Cairo.”

Last Thursday, the court of Cassation upheld the death sentence of an accused Muslim Brotherhood member who threw teenage boys from a rooftop in Alexandria in 2013, and sentenced 58 defendants in the same case to life imprisonment. In video of the incident, he was seen carrying an Al-Qaeda flag.
