CAIRO: A number of armored cars entered Al-Azhar University Sunday morning in order to disperse a demonstration organized by number of students using fireworks, Youm7 reported.

The 2nd semester of the 2014-15 academic year officially began Saturday in schools and universities, and Youm7 reported Falcon Security Company Intensified its procedures on the gates, for any riots attempts.

Head of Al-Azhar University Abdel Hay Azzab inspected the women’s branch of the university in Cairo’s Nasr City Saturday to survey readiness and security measures.

Al-Azhar, along with other universities including Cairo and Ain Shams has faced continuing unrest since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi; a number of clashes and protests took place by pro-Muslim Brotherhood students, and a number of students have been suspended and expelled as a result.

At the beginning of the fall term in 2014, all kind of demonstrations or political activity were banned inside universities, for both students and professors.
