CAIRO: The attorney general Hisham Barakat indicted 79 persons Sunday for rioting in clashes during the 4th anniversary of the January 25 Revolution, Youm7 reported.
The prosecution identified those arrested as Muslim Brotherhood, and face charges of illegal demonstrating, attacking security forces and public facilities, joining a terrorist group, as well as the possession of fireworks and weapons.
According to Youm7, the investigations said that the protests were targeting armed and security forces.
The Ministry of Health previously announced that 18 were killed and 82 injured during the clashes in different governorates, including 19 from the security forces.
High security measures were announced days before the anniversary date. The former deputy governor for Cairo’s western area, Mohamed Ayman, told Youm7 security procedures included intensive presence in all streets of the capital city.
