CAIRO: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) shut on a mixed note after the benchmark index EGX30 lost its morning gains hurt by selling pressure after the mid-session.
The benchmark index EGX30 lost a slight 0.08 percent, registering 9,957 points, compared to 9,965 Thursday. In turn, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 added 0.64 percent to hit 602 points, up from 598 points in its last session. The broader index EGX100 increased by 0.43 points, recording 1,184 points.
Market capitalization shed around 3.1 billion EGP ($406 million,) totaling 536.7 billion EGP, compared to 539.8 billion EGP Thursday.
Last week, market capitalization added approximately 13 billion EGP ($1.7 billion,) shrugging off militant attacks in North Sinai, which killed at least 30 soldiers and civilians.
