CAIRO:President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held Tuesday a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in al-Quba Palace in Cairo, Youm7 reported.

Putin was received with a 21-gun salute by the Presidential Guards, as well as the Russian and Egyptian national anthems.

Putin attended a presentation on Egyptian-Russian relations at Cairo Opera House Monday, and then dined at Cairo Tower in the evening.

Sisi and Putin are also expected to sign several deals in various fields and hold a press conference Tuesday.

Another dinner banquet will be prepared for Putin and his delegation before flying to his homeland, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidential office.

Sisi made his first visit to Russia in August 2014, soon after his June inauguration.  He and Putin discussed the prospect of a free trade zone with Eurasian countries and a Russian industrial zone in Egypt as part of the Suez Canal Corridor Development Project.

Russian investments in Egypt amounted to $65.62 million in January 2013 with 383 Russian companies investing in Egypt, according to the Egyptian State Information Service. Egyptian investments in Russia reached to $13.7 million in December 2012.
