CAIRO: Captain Mostafa Shmees who was injured in a bombing that took place Friday near a police station in Cairo’s district of Ain Shams reportedly died at hospital.
Youm7 reported that the killed officer suffered an injury in his scalp and shrapnel scattered all over the left side of his body.
The explosion left nine other injured, who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. A civilian is among the injured, as he happened to be in the area at the time of the blast.
Preliminary investigations into the blast revealed that the perpetrators, who are still unidentified, left a remote explosive device inside a bag and placed it near the police station, security sources told Youm7.
Sources added the explosives were remotely detonated.
A security cordon was imposed and bomb squad started combing the area searching for potential planted bombs.
