CAIRO: Six Ports in Suez Canal, Hurghada and Sharm al-Sheikh areas have been closed Friday morning due to the bad weather wave, Youm7 reported.
Mustafa Abdel Halim, media spokesman for the Red Sea Ports Authority said in statements that the marine traffic will be facing heavy difficulties Friday noting that the Saudi Daba port on the Red Sea was closed Thursday night due to bad weather.
Abdel Halim added that loading and unloading activities at the port have not been affected.
About 16 soldiers were injured Friday in a car accident caused by bad weather conditions as well, the state-owned MENA, reported. A police vehicle driver reportedly lost control over the steering wheel before the car crashed into a tree.
The soldiers were escorted to hospital, and the prosecution is still investigating the incident.
A state of emergency was declared in Egypt’s Delta governorate of Sharqia Friday in anticipation of any disorders or malfunctions that could occur due to the bad weather wave hitting Egypt since Thursday, Youm7 reported.
Sharqia was reportedly facing heavy rains Thursday night that affected its traffic flow and caused power outage.
