CAIRO: Three alleged assailants were killed after a bomb went off prematurely before one was able to throw it on a police vehicle, security sources told Youm7 Saturday.
The explosion took place late Friday on a bridge linking the east and the west of the Beni Suef city, located south of Cairo.
Youm7 reported that the bomb exploded in the hand of one of four men in a car while he was trying to throw it on police forces in car driving in front of them. The alleged assailants’ car was on fire and the bodies of the two men in the front seat were charred and unable to be identified by police.
The third man in the back seat was severely injured with lacerations in his left forearm and a burst in his femoral artery and he was reported dead upon his arrival at the hospital. While the fourth man had only mild burns and he is now being kept at the hospital.
Two bystanders were slightly injured by the blast, and received first aid at a hospital and were then released, Youm7 reported.
