CAIRO: A 39-year-old woman committed suicide Sunday on the tracks in front of a train at Cairo University station, Youm7 reported.

Rasha Abdel Azim threw herself in front of a train heading to Shura el-Khema district, Ali Fadaly, head of the Egyptian Company for Metro, told Youm7.

Train movement was halted for 10 minutes as the metro ambulance personnel recovered the body and transferred it to the morgue.

A police report was filed about the incident and was submitted to the prosecution for investigation.

A similar incident was reported in January when a man jumped on the tracks moments before a train arrived in Gamal Abdel Nasser Station downtown.
