CAIRO: A veteran acrobatic performer is in stable condition after falling during a live show at the National Circus in Agouza district in Giza Sunday.
A video was released of acrobat Samar Fathy performing an aerial ring act on Sunday when she lost balance and fell from a high distance injuring her wrist.
A terrified gasp from the audience can be heard in the video after she fell.
The video was posted by one of Fathy’s colleagues, Mahmoud Enan, who said on his Facebook account that she is in a better condition.
An official at the National Circus told Youm7 that Fathy is a professional performer and that the ropes and equipment were secured, which reduced the severity of the fall height. The source also added that the crew of the show rushed to her immediately and that she was taken home in a stable condition.
On Feb. 6, another video circulated on social media of lion tamer Faten el-Helw who was attacked by a lion during a circus show. Helw was reportedly lightly injured after Mandy the lion jumped over her and injured her shoulder with his canines.
