CAIRO: A Syrian opposition delegation will arrive in Cairo this week to prepare for the Cairo National Opposition Conference scheduled in April, an Egyptian diplomatic source told Youm7 Tuesday.
Haytham Manaa, the representative of the delegation, met with United Nations Special Envoy for the Syria Crisis Staffan de Mistura Monday, according to the source.
For his part, Manaa told Youm7 the delegation is interested in freezing the fighting in Aleppo as a step to eventually stop all armed confrontations.
After a January meeting in Cairo, Syrian opposition leaders announced that the four-year-old Syrian crisis should be solved politically, and called for carrying out the Geneva 1 conference outcomes, which include forming a transitional unity government.
On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud agreed to increase support for the Syrian opposition.
