Military forces close roads in Sinai, trapping ‘terrorists’

CAIRO: The military announced it had closed a number of streets in North Sinai Sunday morning, thereby surrounding ‘terrorists’ and armed groups and preventing their escape, Youm7 reported.

The check points and cordons were reported to be along on the roads between North and South Sinai.

Four armed men were reported to be killed Sunday, and 25 others were arrested during military operations that have been taking place since Saturday night, the military stated, adding 12 alleged terrorist bases were destroyed.

A bomb blast took place in Rafah Saturday night, with no injuries reported.

On Friday, 10 persons suspected to be affiliated with Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis were killed during a military operation in Sinai.

Military spokesperson Mohamed Samir announced Sunday that about 70 armed men were killed during the past week in military operations in Sinai, with 110 others arrested.

He added in a statement published on his Facebook page that about 4 bombing devices were exploded remotely after being found without injures.
