CAIRO: A suicide bomber blew himself up Tuesday morning, killing one civilian and injuring 27 others in the El-Masaaed area in North Sinai near a Central Security camp, Youm7 reported.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Hany Abdel Latif released a statement saying the alleged terrorist was moving with a large truck hiding explosives inside it, and as he neared the camp, he accelerated and tried to crash into the soldiers, but was stopped before the truck exploded.
Other civilians near the scene reported damage to their windows. Surrounding roads were closed and a security alert was announced.
Shortly after the explosion Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis announced responsibility for the attack, Youm7 reported.
Following the suicide bomb, an RPG shell was reported to hit a military security camp South Sinai. One soldier was killed and three others were injured, Youm7 reported.
