CAIRO: The port of Alexandria will receive 10,000 head of cattle Wednesday, as part of 18,500 from Uruguay, which is the final batch of a 100,000 head of cattle donated by the United Arab Emirates, Youm7 reported.

The cattle, imported from Uruguay and Brazil, will be used for mating to improve the local breeds, dairy production, and increase the production of red meat, Sayed Gad al-Moula, head of the Veterinary Quarantine at the Ministry of Agriculture, told Youm7 Saturday.

The UAE has economically and politically supported Egypt since the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi. In addition to billions it had donated, the Emirates pledged $4 billion to Egypt during the Egypt Economic Development Conference last week.
