Arab security to top summit agenda: Araby

CAIRO: Arab national security and efforts to eradicate terrorism will top the Arab League summit’s agenda, Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Araby told President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in a Saturday meeting, according to an Egyptian presidency office statement.

The presidency added that Sisi stressed the importance of upholding Arab solidarity, promoting joint action and maintaining unity between Arab countries.

Araby added that amending the Arab League charter is also an “important agenda” item during the upcoming summit as a means of enhancing the league’s ability to respond more effectively to various challenges.

The meeting also reviewed the latest regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue and well as the situation in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Iraq, the statement said.
