CAIRO: Sixteen persons were killed and seven other injured Sunday night in 3 cars crash incident took place at kilometer 85 on the Sohag – Red Sea Desert road, Youm7 reported.
The injured were referred to five different hospitals using about 9 ambulances near the scene.
An investigation into the crash has been opened, and three drivers have been questioned.
About 21,000 are killed and 150,000 injured annually on Egypt’s roads in accidents, said Egyptian Minister of Health Adel al-Adawy in a February news conference, in which he announced the ministry would increase the number of emergency response centers and rapid-response teams.
In 2013, the number of car accidents reached 15,578, in comparison to 15,516 accidents in 2012, according to an annual bulletin from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued June 2014.
