CAIRO: Military forces killed 5 “terrorists” Wednesday in North Sinai amid a security campaign against alleged extremist elements, a military source told Youm7.

Eleven others were killed, and six were injured after a missile fell on their home in a village near Sheikh Zuwayed in North Sinai, eyewitness told Youm7.

Thursday morning two police officers were killed and two injured when a bomb went off near the national road of Arish targeted armored patrol.

Military forces announced Saturday they had killed 35 alleged militants in North Sinai amid a security campaign against those accused of killing 16 soldiers Thursday.

The Sinai-based Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (ABM) militant group claimed responsibility for the Thursday attacks that took place at military ambushes in Sinai. At least three residents were killed when missiles fell on their homes at the time of the attacks.
