Russian plane forced to land in Sharm al-Sheikh after engine fails

CAIRO: A Russian plane landed safely Thursday in Sharm al-Sheikh International Airport after its engine failed, said Essam Khedr, general manager of operations, disasters and crises.

The aircraft discharged some of its fuel in the air before it was forced to make an emergency landing in Sharm al-Sheikh, where it had taken off.All 232 passengers on board of the plane were reportedly safe.

Khedr told Youm7 that civil protection forces in South Sinai, 20 ambulance vehicles and Armed Forces Rescue Vehicles headed to the airport to check on passengers and flight crew.
