6 gas and food trucks set ablaze in N Sinai

CAIRO: Militants set fire to six trucks filled with gas and food supplies for the military in Sheikh Zuwayed in North Sinai, eyewitness told Youm7.

Residents told Youm7 that the gunmen were affiliated to Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (ABM,) which has claimed responsibility for a number of anti-military attacks in the peninsula, and has been designated a terrorist organization by the Egyptian government.

At least 29 militants have been killed and 31 others arrested in army raids on the Sinai Peninsula this week, army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohamed Samir said in a statement Thursday.

The raids were carried out in North Sinai towns of Rafah, Al-Arish and Sheikh Zuwayed from April 5 to 8, according to Samir.
