CAIRO: Arish police chief Jaber Al Saeed was shot in the leg during an attack on Arish Police Station late Tuesday morning, Youm7 reported.

The incident follows a Sunday suicide bomb attack that left seven security personnel killed, including two civilians, and injured 72 others at the Arish police station.

The Facebook page of the Interior Ministry stated that a pick-up truck driver rammed the station, and his truck exploded after forces fired on it.

The explosion caused heavy material damage to residential blocks, blowing out ceilings, windows and doors. Town residents told Youm7 that they were terrified by the sound of the explosion.
