EGX shuts on mixed note, equities gain 1B EGP

CAIRO: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) shut on a mixed note Tuesday, in its first session after the Coptic Christian Easter and Sham el-Nessim holidays from April 12-13.

The benchmark index EGX30 inched 0.39 percent higher backed by foreign and Arab institutions’ purchases to hit 8,927 points at close, up from 8, 892 points Thursday.

Meanwhile, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 was flat as it held steady at 496.4 points, while the broader index EGX100 added a slight 0.11 percent, ending at 1,013 points.

Market capitalization added around 1 billion EGP ($131 million,) totaling 511.9 billion EGP, up from 510.9 billion EGP Thursday.
