CAIRO: The Ministry of Health launched a national program to fighting the diabetes through establishing 26 clinics nationwide, Youm 7 reported.
“The program will include treating 100,000 patients per year,” Health Minster Adel al-Adawy. stated, adding “Each year we will establish 5 clinics in different governorates and by 2020 we will reach the target of having 26 clinics nationwide.”
The program will be established in collaboration with global medical firm Novo Nordsic.
Managing director of Novo Nordsic in Egypt, Mohamed al-Dababei, said they signed the protocol with the ministry for medical development purposes.
“Our firm will be supplying the clinics with the latest medical devices, in addition to performing training sessions to the doctors within it,” he added.
According to the National Diabetes Institute, more than 7.5 million Egyptians suffer from the disease. The instate records and studies stipulate that by year 2030 they could reach around 12.5 million patients.
