CAIRO: Egypt and Sudan officially opened the Qustul border crossing Thursday to facilitate trade and goods movement between Egypt and African countries, Youm7 reported.

Egypt’s Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and the Sudanese First Vice President Bakri Hassan Saleh attended the inauguration ceremony.

“Egypt and Sudan are one nation and bonded together with historical relations…and with Nile water, “ said Mahlab during his speech at the inauguration.

The road, which connects the village of Qustul in southern Egypt to the northern Sudanese city of Ashkit, has experimentally operated since August and it is hoped it will double the trade volume between Cairo and Khartoum.
