CAIRO: Officials in Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport are under investigation Saturday after a mentally disturbed man infiltrated the airport’s runway and tampered with a plane, Youm7 reported.
Alaa, 29, was walking near the airport and he entered the grounds through an unattended hole in its wall amid the absence of security, according to investigations.
He then walked inside the runway area, tried to drive a police car, the approached a plane that was sitting, ascended boarding stairs and tried the door which was locked.
The man then took a wedge in front of the plane’s wheel and placed it inside one of the plane’s fans. Monitoring officials in the airport then finally arrested him.
The probe revealed that Alaa is mentally disturbed; he was driver who used to live in Simbelawin of Dakahlia and is now is unemployed in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Five days ago, the Minister of Aviation called for an investigation into video footage that showed a donkey being chased by a janitor in the parking lot outside the international terminal of the Cairo International Airport.
