CAIRO: A 33-year-old man died after falling in a sewer Thursday morning, while trying to open a manhole in Meit al-Dareg town in Qalyubia, Youm7 reported.
Eye witnesses said that the employee had opened the cover and then fell inside. Two other men were trying to catch him and fell after him.
The three were transported to the hospital but the man who fell first was dead on arrival, according to Youm7.
On May 5, 4-year-old child drowned in a sewer during the periodical purification process for the sewers in Ma’sarah and his body was not recovered for 30 hours.
A 3-year-old child died after falling in a 12-meter-deep sewer in south Giza, Cairo in February. Area residents said that there are an estimated 32 open sewers in the area.
