CAIRO: A production facility for Electrolux Swedish Company was inaugurated Sunday by Minister of Industry Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Youm7 reported.
The new facility, built on a total area of 60,000 cubic meters in the 10th of Ramadan city, will produce 600,000 cookers yearly, but is planned to produce a million cookers every year in the coming years, said Electrolux Chairman Ahmed Bakry.
“The project is aimed to transfer Egypt to a regional center for producing home appliances,” Bakry added.
“Egypt is Sweden’s largest market in Africa, and the third in the Middle East and North Africa (after Saudi Arabia and UAE,)” Sparre said in March, adding that there was a 26 percent increase in trade from Sweden to Egypt in 2014 compared to 2013.
Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly and Swedish Ambassador to Egypt Charlotta Sparre attended the inauguration.
Swedish State Secretary, who headed a delegation to the Egypt’s Economic Development Conference in March, said that many Swedish companies already operate in Egypt, including ABB Scania, Ericcson, Electrolux, and Tetra Pak.
