US Air Force F-16 crashes in southern Germany, pilot ejects

BERLIN: The U.S. military says an Air Force F-16 fighter jet has crashed in southern Germany. The pilot was able to eject safely.

The 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem air base, where the plane was based, said in a statement that the crash happened Tuesday morning near Bayreuth, in Bavaria.

The plane was on a training flight at the time. The cause of the accident is now under investigation.
