CAIRO: A total of 1,300 vendors were denied their booths at Torgoman market in Cairo for their lack of presence; the booths will be granted to other sellers willing to use the place, Youm7 reported Friday.

The governorate of Cairo plans to deploy free minibuses to take passengers from Tahrir Square, Abdel Moneim Riyad Square, Ramses Street and Isaaf area in downtown to Torgoman market to encourage customers to shop there, assistant to the Governor of Cairo Mohamed Abdel Tawab told Youm7.

Holding exhibitions in Cairo to present the goods of the venders also helps marketing the Torgoman market, as the goods are sold for competitive prices, Abdel Tawab said.

Thousands of street vendors have been removed from Cairo’s street to resolve the issue of traffic in the city; the sellers have complained that customers only buy from them when they see them during their commute.
