CAIRO: Cairo Court of Appeals has set Sept. 8 for a retrial of Adel Habbara on charges of  killing 25 Central Security forces in North Sinai’s Rafah in August 2013, which is known in media as the “Rafah Massacre case.”

In December 2014, Habbara and six other defendants were sentenced to death in absentia, 22 others were sentenced to life and two received 15 years in prison; all defendants appealed the verdicts. On June 13, The Court of Cassation accepted their challenges.

According to the investigations, the convicts face charges of killing security personnel and spying for an al-Qaeda affiliate in Iraq.
