CAIRO: A carton manufacturing factory warehouse at the 10th of Ramadan City was entirely destroyed in a large fire Sunday early morning, Youm7 reported.
Civil Defense Forces dispatched 20 fire engines to battle the fire which burned through the roof of the warehouse located to the south of the city’s industrial zone, head of the 10th of Ramadan City Adel al-Naggar was quoted by Youm7.
A preliminary investigation indicates the fire, which started at 1 a.m., was caused by a short circuit, Naggar said, adding the initial loss incurred from the blaze is estimated at 3 million EGP ($400,000.)
People living in the houses close to the factory were evacuated as a precaution, he added.
During the past few weeks, several fires have erupted across the country.
