CAIRO: The head of the Nozha Traffic Department Hisham Al-Azb died Monday after being injured by a bomb that exploded seven days ago in front of Heliopolis Court.

Unidentified assailants planted the bomb, wounding Al-Azb and Major Ahmad Fikri, an officer in the same administration. After taking them to Heliopolis hospital, explosives experts found and deactivated another bomb in the same area.

Last Monday, Fikri had a surgery due to the presence of a blood clot in his head and was moved to the hospital’s radiology center, according to Al Ahram. The doctors were not able to move Al-Azb due to the seriousness of his condition.

A military funeral is scheduled to take place Tuesday afternoon, in the presence of his colleagues and security leaders of the Interior Ministry.

Shortly, another bomb exploded in a canal near an Interior Ministry aide’s office in Asyut, without any injuries. Two other bombs were dismantled in front of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Yesterday, Civil Protection forces succeeded in dismantling a homemade bomb planted in Nasiriyah area, Aswan.
