CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has been invited to attend the third India–Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) scheduled to be held in October in New Delhi, stated presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef Monday.
Sisi “welcomed” the invitation that was delivered by Cairo-visiting Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Youssef continued.
Swaraj and her accompanied delegation met with her Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry Monday, discussing bilateral relations, particularly economic and regional issues, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement Monday.
Both ministers signed an agreement in the fields of tourism and scientific research, Abu Zeid added.
Trade volume between both countries has reached $5 billion; Indian investments in Egypt exceeded $2.5 billion as the number of the Indian companies registered 50 businesses, according to the Foreign Ministry statistics.
