3 policemen detained for dereliction leading to jailbreak

CAIRO: A lieutenant and two low-ranking officers were detained Saturday for four days pending investigations for failing to prevent eight prisoners from escaping in Damietta, Youm7 reported.

The prosecution accused the defendants of dereliction of duty after the convicts attacked a prison guard while collecting the from cells on Friday at Kafr Saad Central Prsion. Six of the runways were arrested outside of Kafr Saad town.

This is not the first time prisoners have managed to escape as a guard removes the trash; In September 2014, 16 prisoners escaped form Mahalla police station in Gharbia, also after an officer opened a cell to remove the garbage. The majority of the detainees were arrested on their way out of Gharbia.
