Egypt tops African countries in 2015 All Africa Games

CAIRO: Egypt has secured 76 medals so far in the 11th edition of the 2015 All Africa Games that kicked off in Brazzaville, Congo September 4, Youm7 reported.

A total of 26 gold medals, 26 silver and 21 bronze were secured by the Egyptian athletes as of Sept. 9 putting Egypt first among African nations participating in the tournament.

Egyptian fencers secured seven gold medals, six silver and eight bronze while the Egyptian national swimming team gained four gold medals, nine silver and eight bronze during the first seven days of tournament scheduled to conclude on September 19.

The Egyptian weightlifting team scored seven gold medals, four silver and one bronze. Meanwhile, players of the national karate team secured 12 medals including five gold, three silver and four bronze.
