Sisi meets new Cabinet, urges price controls

CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi directed the new Cabinet ministers to control the prices of food and other needed products ahead of Eid al-Adha, especially fuel and medication, a presidential press release announced Sunday.

Sisi held a meeting Sunday with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and ministers of planning, supply, internal trade, finance, investment, international cooperation, petroleum and trade and industry.

The president referred to the importance of continual work on the previous steps started by issuing the investment law and establishing special economic zones that attract more direct investments.

He added that there are ” a lot of promising investment opportunities Egypt offer, including Suez Canal  Region Development and the million and half acres reclamation project.

Sisi added that priorities should be set for importing, so as not to impose burdens on the Egypt’s hard currency; especially that the importing lists include unnecessary products that could be replaced by local derivatives, with competitive price and better quality.

Moreover, the president urged an increase of Egyptian exports and improve the industrial sector, considering what it offers of job vacancies and its contribution in fixing the deficiency in the trade balance.

Also he explained the current period the country going through and pointed that it need a concern with the Egyptian expatriates abroad and making the best use of their  experience and fields of competency, to achieved the targeted development.

On Saturday, 16 new ministers were sworn in in front of Sisi at the Ittihadiya Palace, in the new Cabinet headed by the newly appointed Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.
