GIZA, Egypt: The Giza Security Directorate is continuing their search for prominent Muslim Brotherhood leader Dr. Essam el-Erian, a source said Wednesday. Searches are continuing in the villages and centers of Giza governorate, and there have been several crackdowns around the villages of Abu Nomros and Atfeeh.

Security forces have also searched Kerdasa village, Erian’s hometown, and continue combing operations and investigations on an ongoing basis.

Erian is a physician, politician, and chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party, which is generally accepted to be the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood. Prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest on July 10, 2013. On July 14, Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat ordered his assets frozen.
