CAIRO: The Abraaj Group announced a partnership with the Tiba Group to form an Education Management Company that would provide management support services to educational institutions in Egypt, according to an Abraaj press release Wednesday.
Tiba is Abraaj’s second investment in the education sector in Egypt and the fifth globally; the partnership is through Abraaj’s second generation North Africa Fund (ANAF II.)
“Our collaboration with Tiba represents a unique partnership with Egypt’s leading education group that shares our vision of providing high quality, relevant and accessible education to a growing student body in Egypt,” commented Partner of The Abraaj Group Ahmed Badreldin.
The partnership will mainly focus on enhancing the curricula and upgrading facilities, besides providing opportunities for Tiba University and Academy students to be potential employers in the partnerships, according to the release.
“Affordable, accessible and high quality education should be the right of every child as it is the single greatest catalyst to growth and holistic development,” said Founder of Tiba Group Seddik Afifi.
The Tiba group was founded in 1990; it establishes a number of schools offering national education as well as American and British education curricula. It also established Thebes Academy, which consists of three academies in Cairo and Giza, offering engineering, computer science, information technology, business management and financial markets courses.
According to the release, in 2014, Abraaj invested in the CIRA group, the owner of more than 20 schools under the widely recognized name “Future Schools.”
