Egypt’s Defense Min. meets US Central Command chief

CAIRO: Defense Minister Sedky Sobhy met Wednesday with the head of the United States Central Command Lloyd Austin in Cairo, where they discussed military and security cooperation and partnership.

The talks tackled regional and international efforts toward the war on terrorism, and recent developments in the region, reported Youm7.

Austin expressed his appreciation to Egypt and its pivotal role in maintaining security and stability in the Middle East region, assuring his country’s support to Egypt in fighting terrorism.

On the other hand, Sobhy showed his “pride” of the deep Egyptian-American military relations that date back to decades of mutual cooperation in different fields, Youm7 added.

In his interview with the Association Press, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi described Egyptian-US relationship as “improving” and that ties are “strategic and stable.
