CAIRO: The Tanta Criminal Court sentenced Sunday four members of the Muslim Brotherhood group to life in prison in absentia on charges including inciting riots, Youm7 reported.

The court also sentenced six other defendants in the same case to 15 years in prison in connection with acts of violence occurred in Egypt’s Delta governorate of Gharbia in August 2013 following the dispersal of pro-Muslim Brotherhood’s sit-ins in Cairo and Giza.

Hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood supporters were convicted in violence-related charges after the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 following a military-backed mass protest against his regime.

Morsi himself, along with prominent Muslim Brotherhood leaders have been sentenced to death in several cases.
