CAIRO: An explosive device went off outside the Azbakeya Police Station in Cairo Thursday, leaving two injured, according to Youm7.
The explosion occurred in the early hours of Thursday; the Ministry of Health confirmed the blast left no deaths.
The two injured left the hospital after receiving treatment; one of them suffered from bruises and abrasions in his body and the other was suffering from shock.
The bomb was placed in a side street close to the police station, and damaging a police vehicle and a motorcycle, a source at the security media center of the Ministry of Interior told Youm7.
Bomb squad forces were deployed to the blast site in search for potential IEDs. The prosecution has also moved to the site to inspect the incident and listen to eyewitnesses.
Since the 2013 ouster of Mohamed Morsi, police stations, booths and personnel have been heavily targeted by similar bomb attacks, in which hundreds of personnel were killed.
