58K Egyptians have returned from Hajj

CAIRO: Some 85% of Egyptians who performed their pilgrimage this year have returned to their home country, Hossam Kamal, Minister of Civil Aviation, told Youm7 Thursday, adding that 58,000 passengers have returned.

An air bridge operated by Egypt air is scheduled to complete its operation by Oct. 15, he said.

A total of 63, 000 Egyptians have performed Hajj this year.

In a deadly stampede that took place in Mecca’s Mina during one of the rituals of Hajj, Islamic pilgrimage, over 750 were killed; including at least 148 Egyptians.

There are some 86 Egyptians who are still missing, according to the Egyptian Consulate in Jeddah.

In a separate incident, five other Egyptians were killed when a construction crane fall on pilgrims at the holy mosque of Mecca, killing at least 100.
