CAIRO: Three trucks loaded with weapons and ammunition were destroyed early Wednesday south of Sheikh Zuwayed, North Sinai, by the air forces, according to a statement by the Armed Forces.
Intelligence information had reported that the weapons were going to be used in a “terrorist attack,” the statement said.
Simultaneously, a tunnel was destroyed under a house in Rafah. Military costumes, telescopes, advanced guns, ammunition, a bipod for a sniper rifle and satellite communication devices were found inside the tunnel.
On Sept. 22, Egypt ended the first phase of the Right of the Martyr operation in North Sinai, killing 535 “terrorists,” dismantling 478 bomb and destroying 613 “terrorist hubs.”
The Egyptian authorities have also begun flooding its buffer zone along borders with Gaza to destroy remaining tunnels and prevent future digging.
