CAIRO: The establishment of an airport in Ras Sedr, South Sinai was approved by the Cabinet Sunday due to its importance in “comprehensive development” in the area.

In a meeting of the Cabinet, including Minister of Civil Aviation Hossam Kamal, Minister of Toursim Hisham Zazou and South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda, the Cabinet ordered that a study on the touristic development of Ras Sedr, which lies on the Red Sea, will be presented to Prime Minister Sherif Ismail next week, according to a Cabinet statement.

Kamal explained in the meeting the requirements of building an airport in the area, while Zazou noted that an airport in Ras Sedr would increase the number of tourists coming to Egypt and facilitate the mobility of tourists in the country.

The resort town on the Gulf of Suez is about 200 kilometers away from Cairo.
