CAIRO: A police officer was injured Friday while detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) found in Haram district, Youm7 reported.
The bomb, discovered in Remaya Square, was dealt with by bomb squad forces that detonated it remotely.
During the operation, the officer was injured by shrapnel in his shoulder; he was then taken to the hospital for treatment and his current status is stable.
Youm7 reported through an eyewitness that the bomb was placed inside a hotel in Haram, and that six civilians were injured. Reports have not been verified thus far.
Forces are combing the area in search for any potential planted IEDs.
