CAIRO: The world-renowned Greek-American Musician Yanni was warmly welcomed Monday with flowers and some of his compositions played at the Cairo Airport, Youm7 reported.
Yanni is currently in Egypt to perform a concert Friday at the foot of the Sphinx next to Amenhotep II Temple in Giza.
Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou and Cairo Airport Company’s Chairman Ahmed Genena received Yanni on his arrival. A number of workers at the airport also took photos with Yanni as he got off the plane. He arrived with his band that includes 45 instrumentalists.
An estimated 3,000 security personnel will be securing the massive concert as well as the entrances and exits of the archaeological areas of the pyramids, an official source at the Interior Ministry told Youm7.
The Ministry of Antiquities will benefit from the concert due to the relatively high price of the ticket, which amounts to 600-3,000 EGP, the source added.
The audience will first attend the concert at the Sound and Light concert at the pyramids, to be followed by Yanni’s “Dream Concert” at 10 p.m.
