CAIRO: A total of 266 polling stations in Beheira were still closed as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday because of bad weather, and six judges were still no-shows by the same time in Atfih town of Giza, Youm7 reported.

Inclement weather has reportedly prevented judges and elections officers from arriving on time at their designated polling stations in the Delta’s Beheira, while Atfih’s judges have been out of reach.

Giza governorate’s electoral operations room has contacted the High Elections Commission to locate the six judges or provide alternatives as soon as possible.

The runoff of the first phase of the parliamentary elections will end Wednesday at 9 p.m., with the government declaring Wednesday half-day off to encourage a higher voter turnout.

After the second phase of the elections and its runoff, the results of the poll will be announced Dec. 3.
