CAIRO: A security cordon will be set around the Giza Pyramids during Yanni’s concert Friday, and the bomb squad and secret agents will comb the area, the head of Giza Investigations Department told Youm7.
The pricing of Yanni’s concert was criticized by many Egyptians, as the ticket cost between 600-3,000 EGP ($74 – $374.) The concert will be attended by a large audience including many celebrities.
Many abandoned cars and street vendors were removed from roads leading to the archaeological area of the pyramids.
Minister of Tourism Hesham Zazou, who received Yanni at the Cairo International Airport Monday, said in a statement that Yanni’s visit sends “a message of assurance” to tourists.
An official source at the Interior Ministery previously told Youm7 that 3,000 security personnel will secure the concert.
The audience will attend the concert at the Sound and Light concert at the pyramids. The world-renowned Greek-American musician will perform the “Dream Concert” at 10 p.m.
