CAIRO: Civil protection forces in Giza dismantled a high explosive device planted near a security post, Youm7 reported Friday.
A bomb was found near a security booth in Ahmed Orabi Street in Mohandiseen district by noon; bomb squad forces deployed to the site. It took them two hours to deal with the bomb and diffuse it.
Although forces were successful in dismantling dozens of bombs, some of them were reportedly killed or injured while trying to neutralize the explosive device.
In a January attack, an explosives expert was killed and three were injured after a bomb near a police station in Giza exploded. The final moments of the expert’s life was captured on camera, raising discussion regarding bomb-disposal suits and prior trainings of experts in Egypt.
In May, a bomb expert ha a part of his leg amputated after he was injured attempting diffuse an IED near a police club in Sharqia governorate.
Since 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, there have been bomb attacks targeting police stations, and claiming the lives of hundreds of personnel and citizens.
