CAIRO: Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff Sohail Aman arrived in Cairo Sunday in a visit that will last for several days, Youm7 reported.
As both Egypt and Pakistan support the Saudi-led alliance operating in Yemen since March to curb Houthi fighters, this is not the first meeting between military officials from the two countries.
On April 19, a Pakistani military delegation visited Cairo to hold talks with Egyptian military Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazi.
The visit was preceded by Minister of Defense Sedqi Sobhi’s talks in Islamabad on top of a senior military delegation to meet with Pakistani statesmen and military officials to enhance military relations.
Egypt and Pakistan, however, denied deploying ground forces in Yemen at a Saudi request, with Pakistan’s parliament voting for “neutrality” and Egyptian officials declaring that its ambiguous role is limited to the navy and air forces.
