CAIRO: Alexandria is currently hosting the Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) Conference for the Middle East with participation of 20 regional countries, stated Egyptian military spokesperson Mohamed Samir Tuesday.
The Nov.3-5 conference is discussing the problems and threats facing the Middle East and North Africa navies and coastal guards, particularly in Mediterranean and Red Seas and in Gulf region, Samir added, noting that illegal migration crisis, combating smuggling, environmental pollution will be tackled in the meetings.
The conference was attended by representatives from U.S., U.K, Saudi Arabia, and Authorities of Maritime Navigations, he continued.
An exhibition will be staged to display modern electronic communication devices via using satellite and radar detection; the exhibition will display offers of international companies on building vessels, the spokesperson said.
The annual forum has been held three times in a row in UAE, and the organizing center, the International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC,) has decided to move it to Cairo, according to the OPV official website.
